Golf Fitness Training Becomes An Integral Part of Your Golf Training Success

Into the early 1990’s, most golf trainers believed there were three components to address, in developing the potential of any player:

1. Instruction – teaching all aspects of the game (short game, basic fundamentals, specialty shots, etc)
2. Mental – dealing with how to handle the mental stress placed on great players
3. Equipment – making sure the golfer is fit properly and has the appropriate set make-up.
These three components formed the three sides of the “triangle approach”.

When Tiger Woods hit the professional scene in 1996, his dynamic play forced instructors to replace the triangle style of development with a more comprehensive philosophy. The mental and equipment sections remained intact and part of the total approach, while instruction’s new approach expanded to three more specific categories:

1. Mental
2. Equipment
3. elaboration… Basic instruction – grip, stance, alignment, swing fundamentals, ball position, etc
4. elaboration… Shot making skills – short game, specialty shots, trajectories, etc
5. elaboration… Course management – how to play each course, set make ups, game plans, etc
6. NEW… Physical Conditioning – focus on mobility and stability capabilities for proper kinematic sequencing. By far, Physical Conditioning was the biggest addition of the new, six-point focus philosophy.

For over a decade, the Titleist Performance Institute studied the best ball strikers on the planet and the impact of their body on the golf swing. Their research and findings culminated in a screening, education and workout program specifically for you… the golfer. To instruct the program, the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) developed a certification process for fitness instructors. As a TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor, the trainer provides the necessary direction and customization of the Performance Golf Training program to help improve all aspects of your game.

The Titleist Performance Institute Performance Golf Training program is a golf specific fitness program designed to correct your mobility and stability physical limitations, which may be causing you to currently play a shorter and painful game. From casual golfer, to competitive enthusiast, anyone and everyone can benefit from the performance program.

Our research shows that in any single golf swing, any/all of the 12 golf swing fault characteristics are likely to occur more than 30% of the time. Instruction from the Titleist Performance Institute TPI Certified Fitness Golf Instructor will focus on correcting your mobility and stability limitations. Training from Titleist Performance Institute is designed to…

Minimize the negative effects on ball direction and distance resulting from the swing faults (characteristics), via golf specific performance training Reduce the possibility of short and long-term injuries from golf specific swing characteristics Help you play longer, play farther, play with less pain, and play to the top of your game

A functional screening process enables us to determine how your body is working throughout your golf swing. This program evaluates all areas of the body and all specific movement patterns. For years, these functional screens have been used only with Titleist Tour Players and are now available to the public. Once limitations are diagnosed, we correlate these findings with your Golf Professional to determine your limitations and prescribe a program that attacks your swing characteristics.

The Titleist Performance Institute Performance Golf Training program is designed to work in conjunction with a Golf Professional. The expertise of a golf pro can be combined with the golf-specific fitness training you’ll receive from your Titleist Certified Golf Fitness Professional.
