Playing Better Golf with Game Management

Golf can be a frustrating game. Almost everyone who has played with any regularity has tried lessons, the latest equipment, and probably some of the thousands of gadgets available to help find the secret to playing better golf. However, it is almost always true that lessons are good…but too often we revert back to our previous habits…..the latest equipment is expensive and does not make your swing perfect….and the latest gadgets are made just to take your money.

One of the most sure fire ways to start playing better golf is to get to the first tee mentally prepared to play your round. Here are a couple of ways to help you improve the mental aspects of your golf game.

If you are a member of a local golf club or play the same course regularly, how well would you say you know your yardages? Do you just depend on the yardages markers in the fairways to help you determine the distances? If so, you might want to take some time to walk the course when you are not playing. This gives you a chance to walk off yardages. For example, exactly how far it is from this typical landing spot to the center of the green and to the (for example) the edge of the trap behind the green. If you make some detailed notes and carry them with you when you play, you can probably save yourself a couple of strokes a round. This is also a great way to have the “local knowledge” if you can get a chance to make a quick walk-around before you play a new course. Looking at the course from this perspective also helps you see things that you might not see during your normal round.

Playing better golf is a combination of the mental, physical, and equipment aspects of the game. By Gaining an edge on the mental aspects of the game, will find yourself playing better golf in no time.

One other way to improve your golf is to upgrade your equipment. New clubs are expensive, so I always buy “previously used” clubs from a reliable source. There are several places that sell factory certified used clubs that are truly as good as new, but can save you Hundreds of dollars. GentlyUsedClubs.com is one of my favorites.
