How do I build (safe and legal)a tennis or golf ball cannon?

I want to know how to build a safe and legal cannon to shoot either tennis or golf balls.

Will high pressure pvc work?
Thanks.

I want to launch a small, non-lethal object a few hundred feet.

Some tubing, PVC will work, or the cans that tennis balls come in…a bit of gasoline and you’re ready for some fun.

Beware since 9/11 they have cracked down on this kind of thing not matter how silly it is. Putting dry ice in a pop bottle and blowing it up is now illegal.

Backyard Ballistics – pretty good book right here

well No.1 there isn’t any such thing as a legal cannon. Or potato gun. I have made several and nothing as it turns out is legal.I made several with schedule 40 PVC that have exploded in our faces. I am currently working on one that shoots T-Shirts into crowds for stage shows. I can’t disclose those details yet. I am still in the final steps and it will be patented. I will however follow up on this at a later time. (nothing is safe that shoots) Please don’t mess with this.
