How Do I Go About Getting a Job at a Golf Course?

Hi, I’m 17, male, and am very much interested in the sport of Golf. However, i don’t have nearly enough money to become a member at the golf course down the road. Would it be a smart idea to try and get a job there in order to acquire free playing time? If so, what would be the best way to go about it?

Thank you all Very much for your continued help with all my questions!

groundskeeper job…they are hard to come by…..you should think about a career in golf course management…pays about 100 grand a year……

tell them that you are looking to become a golf pro or that you are trying to get a scholarship to play in college – even if you got a job picking up balls on the range, you’d be able to practice quite a bit, probably for free

Go to some of the local golf courses, take a look at the set up and what the bag room, range, and cart guys do to make sure it/s what you want to do. Then let the golf staff know you intentions and try to meet the head pro, but don’t force it. Catch him at a time, when he appears not to be busy. You need to be quick and professional. Also getting to know the other cart guys can go along way. A lot of the times the pro depends on them for recommendations. When you get a job, take a look at how the other guys work with the members. Some places do not want you to socialize with them. Some places go through a lot of people, so if you get fired, just learn and go to the next one. Once your in the system you can move around. Use your current you to get the one you want.
